27th February-1st March - Leeds Council Weekend LEEDS SENATE WEEKEND Friday 27th, Saturday 28th February & Sunday 1st March 2009   What a load of Rhubarb!!   Yes folks it’s the Rhubarb Festival of West Yorkshire during the Senate weekend, so this will be a unique way to start the first weekend of the Senate Calendar of Events 2009 for our Chairman, Chris Read!    Friday, arrive at the Holiday Inn at Garforth (just off the A1, M1) anytime after 2pm.  There is a pool & gym for those wanting some exercise before the weekend begins.   Dinner will be at the Holiday Inn Hotel at 7.30 for 8.00pm.  We will have a local Celebrity Guest Speaker after dinner to get us into the Great Yorkshire Spirit of the weekend.   Saturday we will visit the Rhubarb Farm in Rothwell with a guided tour by Janet Oldroyd of Oldroyd & Sons. During our visit we will learn all the skills of force growing rhubarb by candlelight. We will then visit the Rhubarb Festival before lunch. (Rhubarb for lunch is not compulsory!)   After being fed & watered we will set off by coach for the only medical museum in the country, Thackray Medical Museum, housed in the old workhouse of Leeds.  It is fascinating, humorous & different to anything you will have seen before.   The evening will be a black tie & dinner at the Holiday Inn.  We will have some delightful entertainment during & after dinner.   Sunday there is an option after breakfast to visit a local coal mine.   To book for this Fabulous Weekend, please fill in attached  form When 27th February-1st March Where Leeds Audience JCI Senators, partners and guests are welcome to attend this event.
