7th-9th May - St Davids Weekend

BRITISH SENATE CELTIC WEEKEND
ST DAVIDS, SOUTH WALES
7th – 9th MAY 2010

Senators are invited to make another modern-day pilgrimage to St Davids in the spring of 2010 to experience the rich colour, wildlife and spectacular scenery on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

St Davids, the smallest city in Britain, is located at the extreme South West tip of Wales. It is a place of mystery and mysticism, where Christianity rubs shoulders with much older religions and the pace of life is such that there is no word that expresses the urgency of ‘maniana’.

Throughout the ages St Davids has been a focal point for travellers and after the building of the Norman Cathedral, St Davids shrine became such an important focus for pilgrimage that the Pope decreed that two visits to St Davids should equal one to Rome.

Saturday will include a cliff walk following by a pub lunch. There will also be a tour of the famous Cathedral and a spectacular boat trip on Sunday morning. Your journey to or from St Davids could also include a visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales situated 1½ hours drive from St Davids near the A48.

The weekend will begin with dinner on Friday and end with lunch on Sunday. The cost will be £190, including wine Friday and Saturday, all based at the Grove Hotel in St Davids, well known for its warm welcome, good food and real ale.

The hotel has only 7 double rooms, additional accommodation will be booked within easy walking distance.
